On March 21st, 1963, a group of 17 Medical Laboratory Technologists legally registered a not-for-profit association named the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists. They did this with the intent of ensuring that MLTs had a voice in the province of Ontario.

Over the past 59 years our small association has grown from 17 members to over 4,000 and includes MLTs, MLA/Ts and other professionals working in our labs. It has been a long journey with many twists and turns. The very first Annual General Meeting was held in 1963, which means we will be hosting our 60th Annual General Meeting on Saturday June 18th, 2022.

Minister Tibollo, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, and Minister McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, have both sent greetings to mark the occasion.

As this is such a large milestone, we will start the 60th celebrations of the MLPAO at our AGM in June and carry on into 2023. We wanted to ensure that this extended celebration allowed us enough time to us to honour the past, celebrate the present and look forward to the future.

What better way to start off this celebration than with a two-day learning event scheduled in Hamilton Ontario?

On Friday June 17th, we will be hosting our Annual Leadership Summit. This full day event is targeted at Lab Leadership. If you are a Director, Manager, Team Leader or have responsibility for people and processes, we invite you to attend. This will be a limited audience of 50 participants.

The next day, Saturday June 18th, we will be hosting a full-day congress. The list of confirmed speakers is growing with informative and inspiring topics that we hope will provide you the needed energy to keep pushing through this pandemic.

This event will include participation from our vendors and a closing social event on the Saturday night that is currently being planned. Whether you join us for one day or two, it is a great way to connect with your peers, remember the past, and hopefully leave inspired knowing that as a community we are doing great things, together.

We look forward to seeing you in Hamilton this summer!

** NOTE: Vendor booths are SOLD OUT for this years conference. Thank you to all our sponsors. **
