LAB IS ESSENTIAL
We are celebrating #LabISEssential on Medical Laboratory Week, April 10-April 16, 2022!

Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) and Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technicians (MLA/Ts) serve a crucial role in healthcare, conducting over 270 million lab tests annually for Ontario’s population of 14.9 million. #LabISEssential is intended to unite us, validate our efforts, and celebrate the work that is being done in all our labs across the province on the 2-year anniversary of Ontario’s State of Emergency on March 17, 2022.
We are asking all lab professionals, stakeholders, and supporters to wear our buttons and bracelets as a gesture of solidarity and support. Since these can be both a part of workwear as well as casual clothes, this will make the often-invisible work of the lab visible in our hospitals, laboratories, healthcare centers, and more, as well as in our communities.
We’ll be gathering pictures of medical laboratory professionals and supporters wearing their buttons and bracelets or holding a postcard to share on Medical Laboratory Week. Pictures can be sent to mlpao@mlpao.org.
