Katlyn Fanning

I have been a congenital heart patient all my life. I had 2 open-heart surgeries at Sick Kids as a child. These surgeries left me with a lapsed pulmonary valve and an enlarged right ventricle. I also have hypothyroidism which requires ongoing bloodwork to monitor and manage my hormone deficiency. Even with these conditions, I have been fortunate to live life to the fullest and maintain my activity level. My health has never restricted me, but in early 2014, my doctor suggested that I have my lapsed pulmonary valve replaced, which led me to another open-heart surgery. Due to my health conditions, my life has been filled with lab tests, monitoring and milestones, but this has also allowed me to live a full and active life. Thank you to the lab professionals for always being there when I needed you so that I could live my life to the fullest.
