MLPAO is pleased to welcome $1.49 million in provincial funding through the Skills Development Fund Training Stream to support a new Clinical Preceptor Pilot Program. The initiative will help approximately 41 Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) students complete their required clinical placements in 2026 while supporting laboratories facing ongoing staffing pressures.
Medical laboratory professionals provide the diagnostic testing that informs approximately 70 percent of medical decisions, making workforce development critical to Ontario's healthcare system. This investment will help strengthen student training, support frontline laboratory teams, and build capacity for the next generation of laboratory professionals.
