Trillium Award
Presented in recognition of a significant contribution to the advancement of the Association and the Medical Laboratory Profession in Ontario.
The criteria for the Trillium Award includes:

High profile within the medical laboratory professional community, at any level.

Sets a high professional standard as a role model.

Must be a member of the MLPAO.

Both the quality and quantity of contribution to the profession will be considered.

Not necessarily awarded each year.
The award includes a certificate, an award presented at the AGM, and an honorary membership with the MLPAO.

Jim Braidwood Outstanding Professional Award
The Jim Braidwood Outstanding Professional Award is given to the MLT or MLA/T who is highly regarded by professional colleagues for improving work life and professional practice through his/her passion for shared learning and development.
The Jim Braidwood Outstanding Professional Award recipient:

Promotes and supports the sharing of new ideas and learning among colleagues.

Collaborates to solve problems and improve workplace practices and morale.
-
Is highly regarded and respected by their colleagues for attitudes and behaviours that support an evolving and optimistic work environment.

Pursues avenues to engage, inform and educate peers for the benefit of individuals, the organization, and the profession.
-
Must be a member of the MLPAO.

A framed certificate of recognition will be presented to the Jim Braidwood Outstanding Professional Award recipient at their place of work, if possible.

MLT Student Achievement Award
Annually (Fall), an email will be sent to all programs for nominations.
The award is given to the graduating full-time clinical year student who has achieved distinguished academic status and who possesses the following attributes:

Outstanding performance both in theoretical and practical work.

Endeavours to reach a deeper level of knowledge and understanding than required.
-
Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Demonstrates reliability through attendance and punctuality.
-
Has earned the respect of their peers through cooperation and assistance.
-
Demonstrates maturity through a positive attitude.
Value: $100.00 cash award
One year membership
Student Achievement Certificate
Nomination letter of recommendation outlining above attributes, student's transcripts and a brief description of the institution's grading system must be submitted.

MLA/T Student Achievement Award
Annually (Fall), an email will be sent to all programs for nominations.

Richard Lafferty "Excellence in Writing" Award
Presented by the MLPAO to a person that has made an outstanding contribution to the MLPAO Advocate.
Michelle Hoad Advocacy Award
This award is given to a member that has shown great effort in the spirit of advocacy. They have promoted the profession, influenced stakeholders, and are an example of a true advocacy champion. Nominations for this award are submitted to the Board of Directors for selection of the winner. This is an annual award that will be presented at the annual conference or the member’s workplace. This award is sponsored by BD Canada.
Medical Laboratory Assistant Technician Bursary
Two MLPAO Bursaries of $1000 each are awarded to students pursuing post-secondary education in a medical laboratory assistant/technician program. (deadline end of January & June)
