The MLPAO represents medical laboratory professionals in Ontario on a variety of committees including: CORPHA, Coalition of Ontario Regulated Health Professions’ Associations (CORHPA), Allied Health Professional Development Fund and IQMH Stakeholders Forum to name a few.

The MLPAO monitors and reviews any proposed legislative changes that will affect the laboratory profession and responds in the best interests of its membership. This includes communications with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and other government Ministries, with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO), and with educators and employers.

The MLPAO visits laboratories across the province to understand the challenges that lab professionals are experiencing.

The MLPAO has been working with schools and lab programs to increase the profile of the profession.

The MLPAO promotes and participates in National Medical Laboratory Week across the province.

The Board of Directors, which is a representation of the membership across the province meet quarterly to discuss issues and make recommendations on how to impact the profession.
