As we are well into 2023, it’s time to start thinking about earning your continuing education (CE) hours for this year, whether you are an MLA/T working towards the cMLA/TMLPAO credential or an MLT earning hours for your CMLTO portfolio.
What happened to MediaLab?
As of December 31, 2022, MLPAO no longer has a subscription to MediaLab. After several years with MediaLab, many of our members have already completed many of the courses, and as you know, the MediaLab content does not change very frequently. In addition, the content is presented in a read-only format, which may not be suitable for your preferred learning style. It was time for a new approach to CE – an innovative solution that provides up-to-date information on a variety of lab topics from experts in the field!

What is ASCLS Labucate?
MLPAO has partnered with ASCLS to provide MLPAO members with access to Labucate – ASCLS’ online learning system for continuing education. MLPAO members get access to a curated selection of 40 continuing education courses. These courses are in a pre-recorded webinar format. This means that you are learning directly from the experts as they explain concepts and provide case studies. You can also listen to the Q &A after each session for additional information, and the presentation slides can be printed as a resource. After completing each webinar, you will get a certificate of completion.
The webinars are from a variety of different lab disciplines including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, TM, genetics, as well as leadership, quality, and education. The webinars are all current and on up-to-date topics. The great thing about these webinars is that the full slate of 40 webinars will be renewed every year, and so every year there will be completely new, updated content.

How do I access the ASCLS Labucate webinars?
Send us an email at mlpao@mlpao.org to let us know that you are interested and we will send you an invite to join. Once you receive the invite, click on “Accept Invite” and then follow these Account Set-up Instructions. Please read the instructions carefully and complete all the steps to set up your account. If you skip any instructions or end before clicking on REGISTER NOW, your account will not be set up properly and you will not be able to access the course material.
