From Variability to Value: Advancing Quality Improvement in the Clinical Laboratory

Thursday May 21, 2026 - 7 p.m.

This webinar will demonstrate how core principles of the quality improvement (QI) paradigm can be applied within the laboratory setting to enhance patient outcomes and safety. Participants will learn how to design, implement, and sustain laboratory-based QI initiatives that achieve measurable improvement through the effective use of QI methodologies and tools. A real-world clinical vignette will be used to illustrate practical application and implementation strategies. Key concepts including root cause analysis, SMART aims, family of measures, and hierarchy of effectiveness, will be explored. The session emphasizes data-driven decision making and the alignment of QI projects with patient safety, clinical impact, and operational priorities.
