ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS OF USE

The Services provided by the Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario (MLPAO) are subject to the following Terms of Use.   The most current version of the Terms of Use can be reviewed by clicking on the Terms of Use link located at the bottom of our webpages. The MLPAO reserves the right to update the Terms of Use at any time without notice.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

The MLPAO provides access to a number of services and products.  These include annual memberships, products and services relative to the Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician (MLA/T) certification program, conference and education registration, publications, and other items for purchase.  These are collectively referred to as “Services” and are subject to the restrictions of use and refund policy that is applicable to each item.

 

PERSONAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL USE LIMITATION

Unless otherwise specified, the Services are for personal and non-commercial use.  Products and Services may not be reproduced, modified, distributed, transmitted, displayed, performed, published, licensed, or re-created in any way without express written permission from the MLPAOT.

Restrictions on Use of Documents Available on the MLPAO Website.

Application and registration forms may be downloaded and reproduced for the use they are intended.

Permission to use Documents (such as Advocate articles, position statements, guidelines) is granted, provided that

  1. The MLPAO copyright (see below) appears in all copies,

  2. The use of such documents is for informational and non-commercial or personal use only, and

  3. No modifications are made to any documents.

Accredited educational institutions, universities, and community and private colleges may download and reproduce the documents for distribution in the classroom. Distribution outside the classroom requires express written permission.  Use for any other purpose is expressly prohibited.

No logo, graphic, sound or image from the MLPAO website may be copied, reproduced, or re-transmitted unless expressly permitted by the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists.

 

PRIVACY AND PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

MEMBER ACCOUNT, PASSWORD, SECURITY, AND PAYMENTS

In order to purchase services through the MLPAO’s website, clients must provide current, complete, and accurate information as prompted by the applicable registration form.   The MLPAO is a ‘merchant’ with Moneris Solutions, a secure bank-owned organization that processes credit card payments.   The MLPAO does not have access to credit card numbers that are used to pay for services purchased directly through the MLPAO website gateway.

Clients will choose a password and a user name and are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their password and account.   The MLPAO will not be liable for any loss that may incur as a result of wrongful use of a password or account.

PAYMENT TERMS

All orders must be prepaid by credit card (we accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) or by cheque made payable to 'OSMT'.  Orders will not be processed or shipped until full payment is received and processed.

PRICING

Please refer to this site to confirm current prices.  Applicable taxes (GST or HST) will be applied as indicated on the order form.  Shipping and handling are included in the pricing.

REFUND POLICY

The following indicates the refund policy for each product or service:

  • Membership Fee – non-refundable

  • MLA/T Exam Application Fee – non-refundable (must be submitted by mail with the MLA/T Exam Application form)

  • MLA/T Exam Fee – terms and conditions are published on the MLPAO website under “General Information for Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician (MLA/T) Certification Exam” and on the “Application Form for Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician (MLA/T) Certification Exam”

  • MLA/T Study Package and Reference Guides – non-refundable

  • Conferences and education sessions and workshops – the refund policy is published on the registration form for each event

  • Health Training On-Line (HTO) – registration and payments can be made only on the HTO webpages
