The MLPAO prior learning assessment (PLA) process is designed for candidates who are interested in working as Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technicians (MLA/T) who have not completed an accredited MLA/T program in Ontario. 

 

If you have completed a formal MLA/T program in Canada (outside of Ontario), are an Internationally Educated Medical Laboratory Technologist (IEMLT), or have other recent laboratory experience, you may apply for a prior learning assessment.  The PLA process will assess your academic credentials and work experience to determine whether you are eligible to challenge the MLPAO certification exam to work in Ontario or meet the entry level qualifications to work as an MLA/T in another province.
