Jack Grosvenor is a practitioner of change. He has led organizational development/redesign successes in Canada and the USA. His leadership development, team building, change management, and impact communications sessions have resulted in immediate improvement in business results. He has partnered for success with private, public, NFP, and academic organizations. He is skilled working in both union and non-union settings.

Jack is President of jack grosvenor + associates – delivering business results. He is a Sociology and Labour Studies graduate from McMaster University in Hamilton, and received the prestigious AISI Fellowship designation for executive team building in Washington, DC. Jack worked with Dofasco/ArcelorMittal Dofasco in change management and organizational development, leadership, and team building roles for many years. Jack was a part-time Human Resource Management and Business professor at Mohawk College for more than 25 years. He often works as a lead designer and facilitator for other progressive organizations. 

Jack is a certified Pecos River Learning Centers Inc. “Play-to-Win” workshop leader and facilitates experiential learning sessions throughout North America. He has been a keynote speaker for many organizational conferences. Jack’s passion has always been about the development of great leaders and the overwhelming power of Organizational teams. His other – most important passion, is for his wife Glenda, his family, and of course golf!

Lisa's athletic pursuit of 11 IRONMAN wins taught her far more than the typical lessons in sport. She will share her mental strategies and mindset shifts so that you can adapt and thrive regardless of the situation, focus on attitude rather than fact, zero in on progress and process over perfection and grow the greatness in others and in yourself. When we lead with heart and connection, there are no limits to what you can accomplish.

Lisa Bentley was a math and computer science teacher for 7 years before making the shift to pursue a full-time career in sport in 1999. Ultimately, Lisa raced for 20 years as a professional triathlete. She won 11 Ironman and 16 Ironman 70.3 races in spite of having Cystic Fibrosis. Lisa became one of Canada’s best triathletes and was ranked top 5 in the world for over a decade. She had several top 5 finishes at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.  She represented Canada on multiple National Teams and finished 6th at the Pan American Games in 1995. Now, she is a speaker, author of An Unlikely Champion, television commentator and coach.

Beyond Downtime: Lab Operations Agility During Crisis
Conference Day - Saturday, June 8, 2024 - 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

 

No lab? No problem!  This presentation reviews the resilience and creativity of medical laboratory professionals surrounding a multi-code event started by a fire.  This resulted in the evacuation of a regional reference laboratory, highlighting the critical role of lab medicine in health care.  

 

Dennis Garvin is a healthcare executive with experience in the hospital and community care sectors including clinical and laboratory operations.  He has led emergency operations response efforts in multiple settings.  During the presentation, Dennis will provide a unique perspective on the experience, the challenges faced during and after the incident, and the remarkable response and recovery effort that ensued.  Discover how the resilience and creativity of laboratory professionals addressed immediate crisis response and ensured continuity in testing for clinical units.  Key take aways from the presentation include:  lessons learned during the emergency response to the fire and evacuation;  strategies for leading through crisis for both staff and leadership; key practices in ensuring service continuity and resuming operations following an emergency event.

ORBCoN and Massive Hemorrhage Protocol

Troy Thompson, MLT, BAHSc (Hons) is the Program Manager at the Ontario Regional Blood Coordinating Network (ORBCoN).

 

Troy will provide details on Ontario’s Ontario Blood Utilization Strategy and the inception of the ORBCoN program. He will discuss the value of the network and how the network provides an organized and integrated approach to blood management in Ontario.  Troy will share information about specific projects including the development of a Ontario’s first standardized massive hemorrhage protocol.

Beyond The Gates: What goes on at the CFS?

Conference Day – Saturday June 8, 2024 – 1:00 pm – 1:45 pm

Youstina Hanna earned her M.Sc. in Forensic Science with a focus in Forensic Biology from the University of Strathclyde in 2015. She started her career in genomic research at Princess Margaret Cancer Hospital before joining the Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS) in 2018. Since then, has held various positions at the CFS but settled as a Forensic Analytical Toxicologist where she analyzes biological samples for the presence of drugs and alcohol in support of medico-legal death and criminal investigations in Ontario.  

 

Youstina will be presenting a brief summary on the various scientific disciplines at the Centre of Forensic Sciences with a focus on Toxicology. The Toxicology aspect will go into the various investigative streams, the type of analysis involved, and the challenges faced in our laboratory, illustrated through thought-provoking case studies.

Is the Message Understood? Evaluating Patient Health Literacy of Laboratory Reports

Dana Bailey is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry and the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Currently, she is a clinical biochemist at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Previously, she served as a Clinical Chemist for Dynacare for over 10 years. Dr. Bailey is Past-President of the Ontario Society of Clinical Chemists, Chair of the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry Certification Committee, and Member of the Institute for Quality in Healthcare (IQMH) Endocrinology and Immunology Committee. Her research interests bridge clinical and quality concepts and include development of reference intervals, harmonization of laboratory reporting, and patient health literacy, among others.
